Partners In Prevention
(Prevent Blindness Oklahoma)

Last year Moore Lodge helped in screening over 10,000 children. And so far this year we are at it again. By the first of the year we will have done over 3000 with our big days still left. I need help! If you could ask if any one with the time wished to help contact me @ 405-799-3048 or pm539 @aol.com

2008 marks the 22nd year of partnership between Prevent Blindness Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Masons. Number on a spreadsheet cannot possibly do justice to the impact the Oklahoma Masons has had on the State of Oklahoma. The countless hours and dollars the Masons contribute has helped and will continue to help Prevent Blindness Oklahoma in our mission to preserve the eyesight and prevent the blindness of every Oklahoman.

The Charity Foundation helps with funds—we have provided $2,152,689.00 since the beginning of the partnership. Lodges provide manpower, they help with vision screenings, traffic control, and by providing whatever the screeners may need. Prevent Blindness provides the screeners.

As seen below, the numbers are staggering. In 2005, the total number of children screened was 120,590. The total number of children referred, with the assistance of the Masons was 12,273. That’s a lot of children who’s eyesight was preserved with the help of Oklahoma Masons. Outstanding! We are fortunate enough to receive countless letters and phone calls of gratitude from children, parents, teachers and school administrators thanking us for the service we provide in all 77 counties of the
state.

If any Mason is aware of a school in their community that is interested in a vision screening, please instruct them to contact:
